Solid Waste User Fee (SWUF)

The Solid Waste User Fee is designed to help cover additional costs associated with the financing, construction, reserve funds, and the operation and maintenance of the solid waste recycling and disposal system. Mobile Home Disposal Fees

  • Singlewide- flat fee of $1,200.00 (12 tons @ $100 per ton) if burnt, will need to be disposed of at MSW location
  • Doublewide – flat fee of $2,400.00 (24 tons @ $100 per ton) if burnt, will need to be disposed of at MSW location

Boat Disposal Fees

Boat disposal in Berkeley County costs $100 per ton, with no discounts available. Before disposal, all engines and gas lines must be removed from the boat.

Accepted Forms of Payment at the Scale House

  • In-state checks (must include a copy of the signee’s driver’s license)
  • Credit card payments (Visa or MasterCard)
  • Cash

Landfill Dumping for Berkeley County

Berkeley County residents are required to pay tipping fees at the gate for disposing of tires, boats, and special waste, with no discounts available. However, residents can dispose of other materials such as household garbage, yard debris, and construction debris at residential centers free of charge. Tire disposal also does not qualify for any discounts. Please note that assistance with unloading debris is not provided. If your vehicle becomes stuck, you will need to sign a release of liability form, and personnel can assist in moving the vehicle. Contractors must pay the tipping fee at the gate when leaving the landfill.

  • Yard Debris – $50/ton with 1 ton min
  • Construction & Demolition (C&D) – $100/ton with 1 ton min
  • MSW – $57/ton
  • Skidder tires – $600/ton
  • Truck tires – $150/ton
  • Passenger tires – $150/ton
  • Sludge – $65/ton
  • Non-Friable asbestos – $65/ton with 1 ton min
  • Friable asbestos – $160/ton with a minimum charge of $40.00

Setting Up a Commercial Account at the Landfill

To set up a commercial account, contact Solid Waste Accounting Manager Alicia Batten at (843) 719-4683. Prepay accounts can be established a day prior to landfill entry. Ensure that the account is funded before arriving at the landfill.
